Which Plasma Freeze Pokemon Cards Are Worth Grading?

Deoxys-EX #111/116, Thundurus-EX #110/116 and Latias-EX #112/116 lead Plasma Freeze grading targets. Secret rare Garchomp #120/116 and secret rare Ultra Ball #122/116 also justify grading in top condition.

Grading means professional authentication and condition scoring for a fee. Plasma Freeze is the ninth Black and White expansion, released May 8, 2013. It holds 122 cards, including 116 regular cards plus 6 secret rares, according to PokeMasters and its PokeMasters set guide.

What does a grade add?

PSA grades trading cards on a 1-10 scale where 10 is Gem Mint. Only virtually perfect Plasma Freeze cards earn the premiums in this guide. Grading plus selling fees can erase gains on lower grades, according to PSA and its PSA Getting Started guide.

Use this quick screen before you pay a fee. It separates likely PSA 10 candidates from cards better sold raw. Submit only cards that pass all four checks. Keep the rest raw or sell them ungraded.

  • Centering looks even on front and back
  • Corners look sharp with no white edge wear
  • Surface shows no scratches, dents or print lines
  • Edges stay clean and gloss looks uniform

Which full-art EX cards lead?

Deoxys-EX #111/116 full art is the clearest grading target. CardCodex reports 1,065 graded copies but only 34 PSA 10s, with recent PSA 10 sales around $6,569.90. See the CardCodex price guide.

Thundurus-EX #110/116 and Latias-EX #112/116 also depend on top condition. Small flaws drop them out of premium grades. Save grading for copies that look flawless under bright light and magnification.

Do secret rares justify grading?

Secret rare Ultra Ball #122/116 commands a large grade premium. Sports Illustrated Collectibles notes recent PSA 10 sales around $4,680 versus about $504 for PSA 9 and $400 raw. Read the Sports Illustrated Collectibles ranking.

Secret rare Garchomp #120/116 follows the same pattern. The jump from PSA 9 to PSA 10 decides profit. Do not grade off-center or soft-cornered copies.

When should you leave a card raw?

Leave a card raw when it shows edge wear, weak centering or surface marks. Those flaws usually block a Gem Mint grade. A PSA 9 or lower often adds little value after fees.

Collectors chasing registry sets can accept lower grades. Sellers seeking profit cannot. Submit only centered, sharp-cornered copies and sell the rest raw.
