We track sold prices across major marketplaces — primarily completed eBay auctions and Buy-It-Now sales — focusing on graded copies (PSA, BGS, CGC) so each data point is condition-comparable. Where sales are sparse, we say so rather than publishing a confident number.

Different sites use different sources. Some quote asking prices, some quote the last single sale, some average across grading services. Our charts use sold-comp data and focus on PSA 10 grades when possible, which gives the cleanest picture of premium market value.

PSA 10 ("Gem Mint") is the highest standard grade given by Professional Sports Authenticator. PSA 10 copies typically trade for a large premium over PSA 9 or raw cards because they are scarce and visually pristine.

Pokemon cards can appreciate, but they are speculative collectibles with real risk: tastes change, grading standards shift, and individual cards can be slow to sell. Treat any spending as part of a hobby first and an investment second.
