A 1st Edition Charizard PSA 10 sold for $1,380,000 at Fanatics Collect on October 23, 2026, the price including the buyer’s premium. That is roughly 2.7 times the $504,000 the same card brought on the same platform in May.
As of October 24, 2026: Fanatics Collect’s sold-items history lists the October 23 sale at $1,380,000, the highest of any PSA 10 copy of this card on that page. Its four Premier sales of the card from February through May ranged from $456,000 to $528,000.
The 1st Edition Charizard PSA 10 sale: what happened
The card was lot 3 in Fanatics Collect’s October Premier Auction, which closed on Friday, October 23. Fanatics titles the lot “1999 Pokemon Base Set Shadowless 1st Edition Holo Charizard #4 PSA 10 GEM MINT” and records the result as $1,380,000 including the buyer’s premium.
It was the most expensive Pokémon lot in that Premier. The top lot overall was a Shohei Ohtani Logoman patch autograph at $3,240,000, so Charizard sat among sports cards rather than in a Pokémon-only sale. Fanatics did not publish the buyer or seller.
Fanatics says that if payment for a sale is not received, the sale is removed from its sales history. A Premier result can therefore drop off the list later; as of our read on October 24, this one was still shown.
The jump from the spring sales
The October price stands out because the same platform sold PSA 10 copies of this Charizard four times in the first half of 2026, and all four landed in a narrow band. Every figure below is from Fanatics Collect’s sold-items page and includes the premium unless marked Buy Now.
| Date sold | Venue at Fanatics Collect | Price |
|---|---|---|
| October 23, 2026 | Premier Auction | $1,380,000 |
| May 22, 2026 | Premier Auction | $504,000 |
| April 17, 2026 | Premier Auction | $456,000 |
| March 20, 2026 | Premier Auction | $480,000 |
| February 20, 2026 | Premier Auction | $528,000 |
| January 2026 | Buy Now (no premium shown) | $510,000 |
| July 24, 2025 | Premier Auction | $264,000 |
| June 27, 2025 | Premier Auction | $300,000 |
| February 22, 2024 | Premier Auction | $168,000 |
| March 19, 2022 | Premier Auction | $420,000 |
By our arithmetic on those listed prices, October’s result is $876,000 more than the May sale and $852,000 above February’s $528,000, the best of the spring results. Measured against February, it is about 2.6 times the price.
The longer run is just as telling. A PSA 10 sold for $168,000 at a Fanatics Premier in February 2024, and for $420,000 back in March 2022, so this card has fallen as well as risen in the last four years. Each of those is a single sale, not a published value.
Why a Charizard jumped now
Fanatics did not explain the result, and neither buyer nor seller has spoken publicly, so any single cause would be a guess. What the record does show is the market around it.
The past five weeks have been unusually busy at the very top of the Pokémon market. In Fanatics’ September Premier an Art Academy Mudkip promo went for $3.72 million, according to Sole Retriever. Logan Paul’s Pikachu Illustrator sold for $16.4 million in February, as Dexerto reported, a sale Dexerto treats as the record for any Pokémon card.
Those were rare Japanese prize and contest cards. The 1st Edition Charizard is different: it came out of English booster packs, and the Fanatics list alone shows PSA 10 copies changing hands several times a year. A big jump on a card with that much trading history is a different signal from a record on a card that surfaces once a decade, because buyers had recent comparable sales to look at and still bid far past them.
The rest of the Pokémon lots in the October Premier
Charizard was not alone. Fanatics lists these other Pokémon results from the same October 23 close, all including the premium:
- 2002 Legendary Collection Reverse Holo Charizard #3, PSA 10: $468,000.
- 2001 Neo Revelation 1st Edition Shining Magikarp double holo error, PSA 10 (Fanatics notes a PSA population of two): $288,000.
- 2010 Japanese National Finalist Master’s Key promo, PSA 10: $198,000.
- Japanese Daisuki Club Masters Scroll promo, PSA 10: $186,000.
- 2023 Van Gogh Museum Pikachu with Grey Felt Hat, BGS 10 Black Label: $150,000.
The Legendary Collection Charizard is a separate story: its October 23 price was lower than two PSA 10 sales of that card earlier in the month. Our Legendary Collection Charizard and Crystal Lugia price report has that run of sales.
What this means for 1st Edition Charizard owners
For collectors with a PSA 10 copy, the October 23 sale is now the latest public comparable on Fanatics. It is one result. Spring sales clustered around half a million dollars, and the next PSA 10 to cross the block may land closer to either number. Lower grades do not move in step with PSA 10s, a pattern we break down in this guide to the PSA 10 premium during price spikes.
For sold prices across grades, our 1st Edition Base Set Charizard price history collects verified sold listings across eBay, TCGPlayer, Goldin, and Fanatics Collect. The Charizard print and population guide explains how many 1st Edition copies are thought to exist and how that compares with Shadowless and Unlimited.
What to watch next
The next test is close. Goldin’s 30th Anniversary Auction moves into extended bidding on Sunday night, October 25, led by a PSA 8 Trophy Pikachu that carried a $2,525,000 bid when we checked; our Goldin auction preview lists the lots and their bids. Any further PSA 10 1st Edition Charizard sale, at Fanatics or elsewhere, will show whether October 23 was a one-off or a new level. Frequently Asked Questions
How much did the 1st Edition Charizard PSA 10 sell for in October 2026?
Fanatics Collect lists $1,380,000, including the buyer’s premium, for a 1999 Base Set Shadowless 1st Edition Holo Charizard #4 in PSA 10. It was lot 3 in the October Premier Auction and sold on October 23, 2026.
Is $1.38 million a record for a PSA 10 1st Edition Charizard?
It is the highest price for this card in the Fanatics Collect sold-items history we read, which goes back to 2021. We have not checked every other auction house, so we do not call it an all-venue record.
What did PSA 10 1st Edition Charizards sell for earlier in 2026?
At Fanatics Premier auctions they sold for $528,000 in February, $480,000 in March, $456,000 in April and $504,000 in May, all including the premium. A Buy Now sale in January went for $510,000.
Does one sale set the value of every PSA 10 1st Edition Charizard?
No. It is one transaction by two parties on one night. The next copy can sell well above or below it, which is why we list the full run of recent sales rather than a single number.
