Which Triumphant Pokemon Cards Are Worth Grading?

Mew Prime #97, Gengar Prime #94, Absol Prime #91 and the Darkrai and Cresselia Legend halves #99 and #100 are worth grading in top condition. Dragonite #18 can also qualify, but only as a clean, well-centered Gem Mint 10 candidate. Grading means third-party authentication and scoring on a 1-10 scale.

For Triumphant, the grade often decides whether a card gains real resale value. The set is HeartGold and SoulSilver Triumphant, released Nov. 3, 2010 with 102 cards plus secrets. CBR describes it as headlined by Prime cards Mew #97 and Gengar #94 and Legend pairs in the CBR set guide.

Why does Mew Prime lead?

Mew Prime #97 is the set's top chase in PSA 10. PSA estimates a Gem Mint 10 at $30,780, with population data showing only 154 PSA 10s, according to the PSA population record.

Recent market data shows the grading premium is large. PriceCharting and Sports Card Investor report PSA 10 sales around $8,497.83 versus about $232.88 raw. That gap makes pack-fresh, centered copies the clearest submit for collectors and sellers.

Which other Primes justify the cost?

Gengar Prime #94 is the next strongest grading target. Sports Card Investor reports recent PSA 10 sales around $4,150 to $5,000 in the Sports Card Investor sales history.

Absol Prime #91 also retains strong graded value. PSA estimates a PSA 9 copy at $891, with 528 PSA 9s and only 100 higher. Near-mint HGSS-era holos of these cards deserve close inspection for centering, corners, edges and print defects.

Do Legend halves need grading together?

Darkrai and Cresselia Legend halves #99 and #100 must be paired to form the full artwork. Collectors display and sell them as a joined pair, so a single half gains less alone.

PSA estimates PSA 9 halves at $561 and $598 respectively. Affected collectors need both halves graded to capture the complete-piece premium. Match condition across halves before submitting, since mismatched grades weaken the set appeal.

When does grading pay?

PSA TCG bulk grading starts at $18.99 per card for Collectors Club members, according to the PSA membership pricing page. A Triumphant card generally needs roughly $50 or more in PSA 9 or 10 upside to justify fees and shipping.

Grading is condition-sensitive and often unprofitable below Gem Mint 10. CardCodex reports Dragonite #18 PSA 10 nets about $951 after fees while PSA 9 loses money. Send only centered copies with strong surfaces, and keep played or off-center copies raw.

  • Submit only pack-fresh cards with sharp corners and clean edges
  • Check centering front and back under good light
  • Reject cards with whitening, scratches, dents or print lines
  • Compare expected PSA 9 and PSA 10 value against fees and shipping
