What defines the BREAKpoint set?
XY BREAKpoint released February 3, 2016 with 122 cards plus one secret rare. The set contains 11 Pokemon-EX, two Mega Evolution Pokemon, and five BREAK Pokemon centered on Shiny Mega Gyarados, as reported by ICv2 in the ICv2 report on the BREAKpoint announcement.
Its theme contrasts technology against nature. The set introduces BREAK Evolution cards including Greninja BREAK, Luxray BREAK, and Mega Scizor-EX.
Which cards drive raw value?
Secret rare Gyarados EX 123/122 is the top raw card. It features both Gyarados and Greninja artwork and was recently tracked near $126.72 TCGPlayer market, according to TheGamer in TheGamer's XY-era value ranking.
M Gyarados-EX full art 115/122 tracks near $73.55. The complete 126-card BREAKpoint set was valued near $439.52, so the two Gyarados Ultras carry most set value, according to the CBR tracker in the CBR BREAKpoint price guide.
How large is the gem premium?
PSA values secret Gyarados EX 123/122 at $3,973 in GEM MT 10. Population stands at 1,492 copies in that grade with none higher, according to PSA certification data in the PSA population record for secret Gyarados.
M Gyarados-EX 115/122 is scarcer in gem condition. PSA values it at $1,571 in GEM MT 10 with only 809 copies at that grade. That scarcity makes it the second grading priority.
When should you submit a card?
Grades below gem fall sharply. PSA estimates list secret 123/122 near $409 in MINT 9 and near $237 in NM-MT 8, so 9s or lower may not clear grading and shipping fees. Pre-screen before paying submission costs: A centered, clean Gyarados secret has grading potential; an off-center or whitened copy does not.
