Pitch Black Pokemon Booster Boxes: Which Sold Listings Make Valid Price Comparisons?

Valid price comparisons come only from sold listings for the sealed 36-pack Pitch Black booster-box display. Listings for Elite Trainer Boxes, Booster Bundles, or single packs are not valid comps. A booster box here means the sealed 36-pack display box for Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution—Pitch Black.

The set launched July 17, 2026 with over 115 cards led by Mega Darkrai ex, Mega Zeraora ex and Mega Chandelure ex, according to the launch announcement from The Pokémon Company. That identity matters because Pitch Black also sells in smaller sealed formats. Compare box to box only.

What is the exact box to compare?

Use only the sealed 36-pack display box. Each pack contains 10 game cards plus Basic Energy and a TCG Live code, according to the Chaos Cards product listing. The listing title should say booster box or display box and state 36 packs.

Require sealed, in-hand, same-language copies. Presales, opened boxes, damaged seals, and single-pack lots are different items. They sell for different reasons and pull your average off target.

Which listings should you reject?

Reject Elite Trainer Boxes and Booster Bundles. Pokémon Center lists its Pitch Black Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box at 11 packs, while ToyWiz data puts the standard Elite Trainer Box at 9 packs and the Bundle at 6.

That pack gap makes price-per-listing incomparable. A $70 Bundle sold does not tell you what a 36-pack box is worth. Keep the comparison strict:.

  • accept: sealed 36-pack Pitch Black booster-box display, in hand
  • reject: Elite Trainer Boxes, Booster Bundles, booster packs, blisters, presales, opened or damaged boxes

How do you find true sold prices?

Use eBay's "Sold Items" plus "Completed Items" filter. Hustle & Slow explains that this view replaces live asking prices with completed purchases showing final price, sale date and stated condition, as described in the Hustle & Slow guide to sold listings.

Sort by most recent and open the listing to check title, photos, language, seal status and shipping. Exclude Best Offer sales from your average. GB Times and Hustle & Slow warn that Best Offer results often show the original ask or a crossed-out price with "Best Offer Accepted." Use fixed-price solds, or check the true paid amount in eBay Product Research or Terapeak.

How do you turn solds into a price?

Use several recent solds for the same 36-pack box, not one sale. AEANET and Oldham Times reporting on eBay's tool note that completed-sale data covers only about 90 days. They also caution that one completed sale does not set market value because condition, grading, rarity and demand affect value.

Add separately shown shipping to each comp. Then cross-check against TCGplayer, a seller-set marketplace where sealed prices run high at launch then ease, according to the BuyandShip TCGplayer guide. Price your box near the cluster of recent sealed, in-hand solds.
