Inside the world of PokéPark KANTO Japan’s first Pokémon theme park

PokéPark Kanto is about to become one of the most exciting destinations for Pokémon fans around the world. This brand new theme park is opening its doors on February 5, 2026, at Yomiuriland Amusement Park in the Tokyo area, specifically straddling Inagi City in Tokyo and Kawasaki.[1] This is a massive moment for Pokémon enthusiasts because PokéPark Kanto will be the first permanent outdoor facility of its kind where visitors can step directly into the Pokémon world and experience it in real life.[1]

The name PokéPark Kanto is actually quite clever and meaningful. It plays on two different meanings at once. First, it references the Kanto region from the original 1996 Pokémon Red and Green games, which is where the entire Pokémon franchise began. Second, it also refers to the actual Kanto region in Japan where Yomiuriland is physically located.[2] This double meaning makes the park name both a tribute to Pokémon history and a celebration of its real-world location.

The park itself is going to be quite large, spanning 2.6 hectares within the existing Yomiuriland amusement park.[1] This is a joint venture between Yomiuri Land and The Pokémon Company, making it an official and authentic Pokémon experience.[1] The entire facility has been carefully designed to make visitors feel like they have actually entered the Pokémon universe.

The park is divided into two main areas, each offering completely different experiences. The first area is called Pokémon Forest, and the second is called Sedge Town, though it is also referred to as Kayatsuri Town in some materials.[1][2] Each area has its own unique attractions and purposes that will appeal to different types of visitors.

Pokémon Forest is designed to take advantage of the natural landscape of the Tama Hills, which is the lush green terrain where Yomiuriland is located.[1] This area features a 500-meter walking trail where visitors can get up close and personal with various Pokémon characters.[1] The experience is designed to make you feel like you are actually walking through a Pokémon habitat. You will be able to observe the gestures and expressions of different Pokémon, including the famous Pikachu, in a way that feels incredibly realistic and immersive.[1] The park creators have worked hard to make over 600 different Pokémon visible throughout the forest area, creating an environment where it truly feels like you have wandered into the actual Pokémon world.[2]

There is one important requirement for visiting Pokémon Forest. Visitors must be at least five years old to access this area.[1] This age restriction is likely in place to ensure that younger children are accompanied by adults and that the walking trail is appropriate for the intended audience.

Sedge Town is the second major area of PokéPark Kanto, and it offers a completely different type of experience compared to Pokémon Forest.[1] In Sedge Town, visitors will be able to catch live shows and parades featuring Pokémon characters.[1] This area also includes a market where you can purchase Pokémon-related merchandise and goods.[1] Additionally, there are two permanent attractions located in Sedge Town that are designed to be enjoyed by both children and adults.[2] These attractions will provide interactive entertainment and further immerse visitors in the Pokémon experience.

Getting to PokéPark Kanto is actually quite convenient. The park is located at 4015-1 Yanokuchi in Inagi City, Tokyo, and it is situated inside the larger Yomiuriland Amusement Park.[2] To reach the park, visitors can take the Keio Line train to Keio Yomiuriland Station. From there, it is only about a ten-minute ride on the Sky Shuttle gondola to reach the park entrance.[2] This easy access makes it simple for people from all over the Tokyo area and beyond to visit.

Ticket sales for PokéPark Kanto are going to work through a lottery system. Applications for lottery-based ticket sales began on November 21, 2025, at 6 PM Japan time, which is 5 PM Singapore time.[1] The application period runs until December 8, 2025.[1] The tickets that are being offered are for admission dates between February 5 and March 31, 2026, which covers the opening period of the park.[1] Winners of the lottery will be notified around late December, giving them plenty of time to plan their visit.[1] Applications can be submitted on the official PokéPark Kanto website.[1]

The opening of PokéPark Kanto represents something truly special for the Pokémon franchise and for fans worldwide. This is not just another temporary pop-up experience or seasonal attraction. This is a permanent outdoor facility that has been designed from the ground up to celebrate everything that makes Pokémon special.[1] The park is themed around the origins of Pokémon, honoring the games and characters that have been beloved by fans across multiple generations since 1996.[2]

The experience that PokéPark Kanto is designed to provide is unlike anything that has existed before. Visitors will have the opportunity to feel like actual residents of the Pokémon world. Whether you are walking through Pokémon Forest and observing hundreds of Pokémon in their natural habitat, or you are enjoying the shows and parades in Sedge Town, every moment is designed to make you feel like you have stepped directly into the games and animated series that you love.

For families, PokéPark Kanto will be an incredible destination. Parents can bring their children to experience the wonder and magic of Pokémon in a real-world setting. The park has been designed with both children and adults in mind, ensuring that there is something enjoyable for every age group and every level of Pokémon fandom. Whether someone is a casual fan who enjoys the Pokémon animated series or a dedicated trainer who has been playing the games since the beginning, there will be attractions and experiences tailored to their interests.

The merchandise opportunities at PokéPark Kanto are also going to be significant. Visitors will be able to purchase brand new Pokémon-related goods that are exclusive to the park or specially designed for the opening period.[3] This means that people who visit during the early opening months will have access to limited edition items that may become quite valuable or hard to find later on. The market area in Sedge Town will be the place to find these special items.
