Pokémon fans can finally step inside the Kanto region next year

Pokémon fans worldwide will soon have the extraordinary opportunity to step inside the Kanto region in a real-world setting with the opening of PokéPark Kanto, scheduled for February 5, 2026. This groundbreaking attraction, located within Tokyo’s Yomiuriland amusement park in the lush Tama Hills, marks the first-ever permanent outdoor Pokémon park, bringing the beloved fictional world of Pokémon into tangible reality for enthusiasts of all ages.

PokéPark Kanto spans over 26,000 square meters and is designed to immerse visitors in the natural beauty and iconic locations of the Kanto region, the original setting of the Pokémon Red and Green games and the first Pokémon anime adventures. The park features several distinct areas that replicate the essence of the Pokémon universe, including Pokémon Forest, Trainers’ Market, Sedge Town, a Gym, and a Battle Court. Visitors can explore a 500-meter walking trail through Pokémon Forest, where they can observe more than 600 Pokémon species, including fan favorites like Pikachu, in a vibrant, verdant environment that uses the natural rolling terrain of Tama Hills with tunnels, stairs, and meadows to enhance the experience.

Sedge Town within the park offers a Pokémon Center, a familiar sanctuary from the games where Pokémon can be “recovered,” along with attractions such as Pika Pika Paradise, which showcases Pikachu and other Pokémon, and a merry-go-round called Vee Vee Voyage featuring Eevee and friends. The town also hosts lively parades with Pikachu and Eevee, and visitors can enjoy unique food, drinks, and exclusive merchandise at various shops, including the Pokémon Daisuki Shop, which requires advance ticketing for entry.

The creation of PokéPark Kanto is a collaboration between The Pokémon Company and Yomiuriland, aiming to provide a permanent, nature-integrated Pokémon experience that transcends the digital realm. Unlike previous temporary events like Pokémon Wonder, this park is managed by a dedicated joint company to ensure its longevity and continuous operation. The location in Tama Hills, known for its abundant forestry and hilly landscapes, offers an authentic natural backdrop that preserves the essence of the Pokémon world amid Tokyo’s urban sprawl.

This initiative not only celebrates the cultural impact of Pokémon but also invites fans to engage physically and emotionally with the franchise’s universe, fostering a global community of Trainers in a setting that blends fantasy with reality. The park’s design encourages exploration, discovery, and interaction, making it a dream destination for both longtime fans and newcomers eager to experience the magic of Pokémon firsthand.

Tickets for PokéPark Kanto will be available starting November 21, 2025, allowing fans to plan their visit well in advance. This new attraction promises to be a landmark in Pokémon-themed entertainment, offering a unique blend of outdoor adventure, nostalgia, and immersive storytelling that brings the Kanto region to life like never before.
